I'm sitting on a long post about fanfic that I intend to finish and post later today, but I just got an email telling me that someone from a part of family I'm relatively unfamiliar with has just added me to a family tree.

This is really cool.

Of course I can't see it from work because we still use IE6, but I really do think that's kind of neat. This is a portion of the family that came over from Poland, so I'm really excited to see that part and what comes from where. I don't really identify as a nationality (as some people can say "I'm Irish" or "I'm Italian" etc; I basically say, "I'm a mutt" or "I'm Heinz 57 Flavors") but I really do think it will be neat-o to trace these things back and see. Maybe I'm just a nerd (WHO KNEW) and I like organizational nerdy things (WHO KNEW (*HUMPS EXCEL*)).

1st priority: This is still going on, guys!

Trick or Treat Meme

...at least, I'm treating it like it's still going on, because there are like 800 prompts I still want to write. I don't want to be the only one playing! That makes me LAME.

2nd: I have a huge test at 6:00 today and I have not studied much. Let's hope work stays easy today because otherwise I am le screwed.
seventhe: (bullshit.)
...or not.

I can't get my thoughts straight, and I don't feel like concentrating on this right now.

I'm gonna go write some porn, I think.

It's snowing today - really snowing - for the first time in Akron. Part of me is secretly pleased: I'm a Buffalo girl, I believe that winter goes with snow, period, and if it's going to be that damn cold outside we all deserve a little gorgeous whiteness. The other part of me forgot to grab gloves as I went out the door and thus is fucking freezing and angry at having to brush the snow off of my car 9,000 times today. Plus driving in the snow can be a little nerve-wracking (not for me, exactly - again, I grew up in it - but for me watching all the other morons on the road). Also, I need windshield-washer fluid and some de-icer. Must make mental note to hit Auto Zone this weekend.

I am soon up to meet with my boss, my co-worker, and everybody's boss about my plans to go back to school part-time and how to fit it in with work. Am a little nervous. Am also hoping that I get my raise notification today, as it's that time of the year and I feel I am due one.

I am still exhausted from the funeral: emotionally, physically, mentally. It was probably my worst travelling experience of all time, and that didn't help the stress and sadness of the occasion at all. I can't wait for the weekend when I can curl up with my kitty and unpack the suitcase and do my damn dishes.

Le sigh. Perhaps I will put up my Christmas tree this weekend - that's guaranteed to cheer one up for the holidays. Plus, Rydia likes to chew on it.

Y'know, I almost wrote a work-related rant, but the number of times I've read in TIME magazine that "WRITING ABOUT WORK IN YOUR WEBLOG CAN GET YOU FIRED OMGZORZ!" actually stopped me. Fuck you, media!

BTW, why doesn't the mouse work in LJ windows anymore? Why can't I highlight things I'm typing?

Did anyone watch this Monday's Wife Swap? It was taped (due to Monday Night Football) and consumed last night.

I'm not kidding.
It's a family that lives as pirates.
Full costumes. Swords. The running around the house and the fleas (fleas!!) and the yelling of "ARRRRRRR!" and the fake names.

I love Wife Swap.

In other news, my band's got a private show this weekend (we're playing an anniversary party!), so if you're all nice, maybe next week I will post some tunes for bored people to listen to.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhh, my batch from yesterday went totally fubar. Now I must start over from scratch. Oh, how I love working with totally new chemicals when I don't know what the hell they do!

And in the interest of laziness, here is a quote.

“Procrastination should not be confused with laziness. Laziness means one doesn’t want to do anything. Procrastination means one has strategically planned being lazy, and he has done so with a sense of purpose and determination. Procrastination is what you do when you’re doing what you want to be doing, and so embracing procrastination can help restore your confidence and motivation. When one realizes it is OK to procrastinate, he reaches a turning point in his career.”
