There is an article on the history of Final Fantasy here. Keep in mind that this is "Something Awful" and of course all the reviews are going to be bad. However, it's at least amusing.

Cecil was the first character to actually use "..." as a valid response. You learn something new every day!

I think one of my favorite lines of Engrish comes from a Final Fantasy game.

I believe it was FF2(US title)...where Telah is rapidly wapping the Bard on his head with his cane, whislt screaming, "YOU SPOONY BARD!"

I randomly shout that out at my husband and sometimes at complete strangers. It's a good, all purpose weird thing to say.

But... spoony is an apt word for Edward. I would even go so far as to say that he does things spoonily.

I should hope so! I know I'm happiest when I'm being a spoony bard! ...although, I am quite similarly happy during the times I'm being a torment-the-protagonist-bard as well...

Also, I forgot to mention that you !win! for getting it into everyday vocabulary. :D
