Sure! I generally use LJ, but I have DW to participate in comms and whatnot. It's kind of just a mirror journal though. Hope you don't mind--just friended you on LJ!

Omg, confusion indeed...the politics in this series are out of control. I feel like when someone asks me my opinion about the series, my response is often, "Um, when Treize shoots that FANCY RED BIRD, IT'S A METAPHOR FOR EVERYTHING. THAT'S MY THESIS." But it is crazy complicated...and at the same time, it's like, "Omg, political intrigue, dysfunctional interpersonal relationships, hidden ident--WAIT, HOLY SHIT THAT'S A FUCKING COOL SCYTHE. WHICH ONE IS THAT AGAIN?!"

Re: Treize and Wufei--This pairing was a fanon standard when I was in the fandom. Not my cup of tea, but holy crap, I love their rapport in general. And the line that slayed my soul: "That was beautiful, Wufei." *DEATH* ... WHATTTT. You just know Wufei dreams about that shit.

Re: Quatre--Good Christ. Okay. Yeah...everything you said. One thing I love about Gundam Wing is how young they are during the series, and the dramatic character development that takes place during the duration of the plot. Quatre, IMHO, develops the most in this regard...he's afraid of the Zero System and blows up a civilian satellite. (Let's not even GET INTO the Heero and Trowa convo at that moment. Yes, Trowa, you can cry.) By the end of the series, he's like this strategic bad ass that unites them and is the only person who can actually use the Zero System the way that it's intended (and let's not even TALK ABOUT the conversation between Heero and Quatre when Heero basically hands the Zero System, even after the UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT.)

Re: Trowa and Heero-- Well. Oh god, those two. THOSE TWO. As you say, the entire reason they even go is so Heero can be like, "Hey, want to shoot me? NO?! LULZ. SORRY." And Trowa's role in the circus is so fascinating...there's the clown aspect and the whole "tied to a knife-throwing board" (oh god, cue fetish fics). One thing that's so worth reading is Trowa's Episode Zero. First of all, his little mercenary friend Ralph TOTALLY LOOKS LIKE HEERO (or maybe that's just the fangirl talking)...but seriously. I love the idea that Trowa joins the circus as a cover, and then finds a home there. And I especially LOVE Catherine. LOVE LOVE LOVE Catherine. Um...and then the whole "losing his memory" thing, when he wanders back there, and Catherine is all, "Wait, why the shit are you here for my special FRIEND/BROTHER/LOVERINSOMEFANON that I want to protect, to take him back to war?!" (Yeah. Memory Loss!Trowa is one of my favorites.)

Dorothy/Relena. Well, shit. See below rec. But shit. I love Dorothy so hard. I have to say, I think Dorothy is my second favorite character next to Quatre. She's so angry, and I feel like she thinks Relena is a bit of a joke, but then comes to at least somewhat respect her very real pacifist convictions. Oh Dorothy...you and your lady boner for those damn Peacecrafts. (Uh, in my head!canon anyway.)

Okay, so recs. I'm sure I'm forgetting a million, but whatever--hope you enjoy!

The Appearances Series
You'll have to skim Avarice's FF.net profile, but there are about 7 parts I think? It's basically post-EW and Duo and Trowa are in the Preventers together. They become friends with each other, and this tells the story of them getting to know each other and adjusting to post-war life. Gen!fic, and lighthearted while actually still being in character.

Drift--Best pilot!pile fic ever. And uh, pretty much anything ever written by torch. Clouds and lions is an amazing Trowa-centric fic, with a bunch of slashy "AU" side pieces for a bunch of different pairings. But seriously check out her entire archive. She's an amazing writer. Oh yeah...seriously...The Weather Outside (3x6) is one of the best damn things I've EVER FRICKIN' READ. The last lines slay my soul.

Anatexis by Alexe Cinz. Basically, fandom lore. Not slashy, heartbreaking, so ridic good. Alexe Cinz is also disgustingly talented; she is an awesome artist that does shit like this. (Ahem...not that I have an intense LOVE OF THAT PAIRING, ESPECIALLY WITH TWISTED PSYCHOLOGICAL MANIPULATION.)

The Arrangement and Freeport by Maldoror. Basically, "The Arrangement" is extremely interesting, because it was epically popular back in the day. (Of course, I read it like, three years too late, but whatever.) It made 1x5 THE NEW 1x2 LULZ. Anyway, the first half is like, awful fanon cliches. The second half is so fucking incredible, I stayed up for two days without sleeping, listening to "Earth Intruders" on repeat (which I now associate inextricably with this fic--and har har, how APPROPRIATE LULZ), reading it. It's interesting because it was written over a 2 year period, and the arc and progression of characterization is kind of incredible. Freeport is a 2x5 AU (still set in the GW universe kinda-sorta) which is just fucking ridiculously brilliant.

January Thaw by [profile] tb_ll57. 1x4 brilliance. Also an excellent GW writer...and uh...in general.

Oh! And just to top off my embarrassingly exuberant, long post... Dorothy/Relena: Matter of Principle by threewalls. Uhh...you know it's good when "Bloodplay" is used as a tag. This shit blew my mind.

The Old Lie by karanguni. Um...Zechs and Treize, talking pre-canon... I can't even talk about this it's so good.

A Purpose for Numbers by a_lifestyle. Love this shit...1x3 goodness. WIP.

Shit. This is long. Gundam Wing. Yes. ATE MAH LIFE, BACK IN THE EARLY NOUGHTIES.
