Yeah, it's funny, because I have heard a LOT of people say that about the early GW fandom - that it was crazy and awful, and I really do want no part in that. Here's the thing: A) I am an omnishipper, so while shipping wars can be fascinatingly interesting to me in the entire "hey let's watch that train wreck and subsequent explosion" cringing-but-interested sort of way, I have never really been able to understand them personally; and B) I really really REALLY really don't get and don't like bottom/top dynamics the way they're presented like 95% of the time. They can really make me cringe and some of the worst stuff actually reads (to me) as misogynistic and the whole thing is just. Well, not my, uh, cup of tea. So I think - like, reading your post? My god, I would have been beyond bothered.

But then I look at stuff like... the sheer amount of crack!fic that existed in this fandom. Fics that read like Lifetime Movies, where someone owns a coffee shop and the others are customers. or just plan crack fic -- seriously, I have read a really long fic in which Duo is a fucking doll and it like blew my mind it was that good. Or the ridiculous fanart I've seen, where I am like "there is a dolphin nosing Duo's nuts, this person has to be the biggest troll ever" and I am just like... FF fandom (my main fandom) NEVER got that crazy, I am really almost jealoud.
