I love how the opening description rolls and rolls, very much the flavour of Al-Cid in its decorative flourishes. What a party, for gracious young things to enjoy themselves at.
And then the cutting epilogue, where they're both older and Al-Cid knows better about who Vayne really is, how differently they both see 'a bit of fun' (though they're also both still wearing masks, of a fashion).
