I would never lynch you because I don't get the Seifer adoration either. He's a fucking frat boy. And even emo Squall can pwn him in one turn, so whatever.

I like him when he's an asshole, but in that "Ugh, what an asshole" way. I don't like woobiefied Seifer. At all. If he's not prickly, he's NOT Seifer.

And why do peeps hate Irvine? He's AWESOME

Seifer's just a big bully to me, and 'mean' characters just never really drew me in. I'm not a big Draco fan in HP either, mostly for the same reason. I don't like characters who are total butts all the time.

Although yes: do not woobie the Seifer. That's just not cool.

And I don't know why Irvine gets no love! Fandom either makes him a whore or a cheating whore!

I think the reason I ship Irvine/Quistis so much is because of how much they balance each other out. Irvine needs someone to keep him and his smart mouth in line (wow that sounded more sexual than intended). Quistis needs someone to help her loosen up.

Although Seifer/Quistis seems much more popular, I think Irvine's more loveable.

I kind of don't understand the Seifer/Quistis. They just don't seem like they like each other at all, or respect each other -- Seifer certainly has no respect for Quistis other than the lip service he has to pay her position in SeeD (Seifer seems to have problems with women in authority, although he's willing to be bossed around by a Sorceress: issues, anyone?). And Quistis pokes fun at Seifer needing luck on his field exam, jokes around with his rival Squall, and generally fails at teaching half because of his antics: I don't know, I just don't see it. I know a lot of Seifer/Quistis fics are long and involve lots of development where they could totally FALL FOR EACH OTHER, but, um. I don't think it's a good fit. Seifer's too mean, and Quistis is too insecure: it could go a really bad route. Or Quistis would get frustrated and kill him!

I love Quistis/Irvine, though. It's a secret guilty pleasure, but they're two of my absolute favorite characters and also I think they fit really well together. I want to write fic where they get sent on really sexy undercover missions together.

edited to say I have actually read some really good Seifer/Quistis, especially from my F-List. And I can appreciate it if done well (I've even written it myself, and I do love the snark). I've just also seen it done terribly, and it takes a pretty big leap for me to buy into it.

Part of it is that a lot of fandom seems to see the characters differently than I do (see: giant rant on Quistis below)
