1. The first character I fell in love with: Lulu, I think, although I'll actually admit that it was just because of her outfit. Shake that rack, baby.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Yuna. There's something about her determined, quiet strength that didn't get me until much later in the game.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Seymour? I guess I don't know how popular he actually is, but he's just another blah blah rule the world bad guy. Although I do like Anima, so, uh. Maybe this answer isn't as accurate as I thought?

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: KIMAHRI! WHY HE GET NO LOVE??

5. The character I would shag anytime: Lulu. Or Auron, but he's ded. Or the Braska/Auron/Jecht threesome, but only if I got all three WHUT

6. The character I'd want to be like: Hmm. I like parts of all the characters. Wakka's optimism, maybe, or Rikku's determination.

7. The character I'd slap: Wakka when being a bonehead?

8. A pairing that I love: How about a few? Lulu/Rikku. Lulu/Auron. Auron/Braska/Jecht.

9. A pairing that I despise: Huh, actually, I can't think of one.

10. Favorite character: If I had to pick one? Rikku. I like the way she thinks about things.

11. What are my five favorite things about the fandom. In no order: (1) There are some excellent writers (2) who like to explore things like backstory or meta (!!), not just romance fic. (3) It can cover humor or angst or drama or action! OR META. (4) There's decent potential for crossovers. (5) I can ship anyone and probably have a fan on my F-List!

12. What are my five least favorite things about the fandom. (1) Too many High School fics. (2) Ship haters -- why can't Rikku/Auron and Lulu/Auron live in harmony? (3) BRASKA, AURON, AND JECHT GET NO FREAKING LOVE PPL (4) Seriously, Yuna is not a cheerleader. (5) Not as big and active as other fandoms!

1. The first character I fell in love with: Oh, God, Tifa. She has the same birthday as me! And my little self thought she kicked so much ass.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Yuffie, actually. Once I started writing humor, I pretty much was sold, though.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: SEPHIROTH. Maybe the Compilation has somehow helped, but (a) I DID NOT FIND HIM ATTRACTIVE AT FUCKING ALL, EW and (b) I just didn't really find him all that cool. He was just your typical baddie. Yawn. Bring back the talking space alien head!!

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: RED/NANAKI. OMFG. I freaking think Nanaki is made of awesomeness and also I want to hug him a lot.

5. The character I would shag anytime: Er. ? Rude, because Reno has the herp.

6. The character I'd want to be like: Cloud, although minus the crazy. I think it's awesome the way he bucks up and goes from 'zero to hero' -- I like the way he takes charge. Although, again, minus the crazy.

7. The character I'd slap: Sephiroth. Although it's not really him, it's his fans.

8. A pairing that I love: ohgod. Tifa/Vincent *prepares to get lynched* Alternate non-lynching pairing: Aeris/Tifa. Alternate that I must blame firefly99 for: Cloud/Barret. I can keep coming up with alternates.

9. A pairing that I despise: despise is harsh, because I have actually read good fic for both of these, but Cloud/Sephiroth and Aeris/Sephiroth both kind of hit my alarm bells.

10. Favorite character: Tifa! Runners-up: All the Turks!

18. What is my deep, dark fandom secret. I totally omnislash (ha ha) this game. As in shipping. I like everyone/anyone. Alternate secret: I haven't written it in years, and I kind of miss it, but with the Compilation and all, I'm just kind of turned off.

I can try, although I don't know much about the fandom at all!

1. The first character I fell in love with: KAIM. SORRY, BUT HE IS MADE OF SEXY. And also so broody!

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Jansen, actually. When the game started I was all "STFU" and by the end I thought he was so fricking hilarious.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: I don't really know who is beloved in fandom!

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Again, don't know :)

5. The character I would shag anytime: Ming, but mainly because of her royal insignia rack.

6. The character I'd want to be like: Seth! She kicked so much ass!

7. The character I'd slap: It depends! Kaim, when he's being broody. The kids, when they're being annoying. The bad guy, when he's being a douche!

8. A pairing that I love: Kaim/Sarah! Ming/Seth. Ming/Jansen. I don't know. ARE THERE CRACK PAIRINGS IN THIS FANDOM AND IF SO, GIVE THEM TO ME PLEASE

9. A pairing that I despise: Don't really know, yet.

10. Favorite character: Um! I liked Seth's attitude, and I liked Ming because she was awesome. And Sed was all dirty and realistic -- I liked him a lot!

1. The first character I fell in love with: Hmm. Well, Quistis, obviously. But right after I played the scene in Trabia where Irvine gives his little speech, I immediately sat down at the computer and started writing fanfiction, so he deserves a mention too.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Rinoa. I didn't like her in the game, but talking to Rinoa fans and being in fandom itself has really expanded my view of her. I think I judged her too harshly.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Seifer *prepares for lynching* What?! I don't really like the bully characters, in any fandom! I can enjoy him in a good fanfic, he just didn't do a lot for me in the game

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Irvine! Or Laguna. They both get a pretty bad rap in fandom. Ellone, too, but no one really hates her so much as totally forgets about her.

5. The character I would shag anytime: ANY OF THEM

6. The character I'd want to be like: Quistis. She isn't as cold as so much fanfic makes her out to be.

7. The character I'd slap: Seifer, haha! Or maybe Squall. Snap out of it, emo kid.

8. A pairing that I love: can't pick just one! Rinoa/Quistis. Irvine/Selphie. Irvine/Quistis. Seifer/Selphie (it would be awesome).

9. A pairing that I despise: I've got nothing. I pretty much onmi-ship FFVIII.

10. Favorite character: Obviously Quistis, although I can find a lot to like in almost every character from this game.

I would never lynch you because I don't get the Seifer adoration either. He's a fucking frat boy. And even emo Squall can pwn him in one turn, so whatever.

I like him when he's an asshole, but in that "Ugh, what an asshole" way. I don't like woobiefied Seifer. At all. If he's not prickly, he's NOT Seifer.

Where does this perception come from? Replaying the game after being in fandom for so long properly did my head in; where are the parts in which Seifer is a smooth-talking badass and not a giant nerd? where are the parts where Quistis is an Ice Bitch extraordinaire?

Quistis spends the entire game showing great warmth & compassion, yet somehow this gets gobbled up by the perception that she's

a) a teacher
b) hot
c) badass

which somehow equal "Ice Queen" portrayals. Hell, the ONLY part of the entire game I can think of in which Quistis comes across as "cold" is when she yells at Rinoa in Caraway's mansion - and even then she's so guilty about it that she jeopardises the entire mission to go back and say sorry.

I just - asljdfhaidhwidh! Maybe it's the cheeky little digs she gets in on Squall & Seifer at the beginning that do it - but I always just saw that as flirtatious teasing. Also: would an Ice Queen lead one of her ex-students to a "romantic" location to pour her guts out - embarrassingly? dfwhfwlal.

Final Fantasy IV. The world needs to know!

1. The first character I fell in love with: Rydia, obviously, although Rosa is a close second. Keep in mind that this was, like, the first video game that had GIRLS in it for me to BOND with, though. I made Rydia and Rosa Lego people. That should be all I have to say.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Edge. I liked him in the game, but he's so underappreciated in fandom. And the DS remake just made me love him MORE!

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: This is hard. I'm actually going to say Kain, but not because I don't love Kain: more because I think a lot of people are more Kain-obsessed than I.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Palom and Porom?

5. The character I would shag anytime: EDGE. YOU KNOW HE'D BE GOOD AT IT

6. The character I'd want to be like: Rydia. I like her tenacity and spunk.

7. The character I'd slap: ? Maybe Edward, although I love his little pacifist spoony bard ass.

1. The first character I fell in love with: Hmm. It's a tie: Marle, because she was fun; and Lucca, because she was the first video game character WITH GLASSES.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Robo. First play-through it was like "oh, giant robot." Now? I am dancing to his theme song in my head right now because he is AAAAAAWESOME

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Magus? I find him intriguing, but I don't have the huge obsession with him that fandom does? Then again he's one of the few characters I've taken the time to actually write, so... maybe this answer is a lie

1. The first character I fell in love with: Terra. Green hair, mysterious magical powers, kicks ass. For me, that was enough.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Cyan. He's easy to miss in a cast this strong, but there's something about his story that really stands out once you're replaying the game for the umpteenth time.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Ultros? I mean, yeah, funny, but does he deserve all the fandom recognition?

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Sabin! Or maybe people don't hate him, but he never gets any fic at all!

OKAY DEEP DARK FANDOM SECRET TIEM:

I actually haven't physically beaten the game.</small. I played all the way to the end, and then I moved to Delaware and forgot about it. In DE I spent some time level-grinding and got right up to the end, but then when I moved back to Ohio in a year, I pretty much forgot about it because I'd already watched the ending on the internet, figuring I deserved it since I was already at the last bad guy. So, uh. Yeah. THIS IS EMBARRASSING.
