UNTIL YOU USE ME UP

0 Made an extensive list of current works / plotbunnies over in [livejournal.com profile] brokenprism. I need to write more. A lot more. AND I NEED TO STOP HAVING SUCH CRACKALICIOUS PLOTBUNNIES THANK YOU VERY MUCH [livejournal.com profile] lassarina. I am going to need more claims just to take care of all these crazy ideas.

0 I like peaches.

0 I currently really, really, really want to write more Beacon. However, it's going to have to wait. I've had too much work today to write, and I really have to practice tonight (we're up to four new songs a week, so I should totally be churning out the practicing).

0 My brother is coming to visit me this weekend! YEY! Saturday we've got a huge jam session planned with a bunch of my friends, and then we're going out on Justin's boat for a late-night swim. FREAKING AWESOME. It will be the coolness. PLUS GRILLING. I LOVE GRILLED THINGS.

0 Sunday we're recording a new demo. Our old one features our ex-drummer and one extra guitarist who is no longer with us, so it's about time. Plus I've learned a lot about Cakewalk:SONAR and recording in general, so it should be way better. Again, I have to practice.

0 Why am I not motivated to write any of these ideas? I know what will happen -- I'll get home, spend like three hours reading TIME and eating dinner, and then maybe play for like 20min. And I won't write at all. Laaaaaazie.

0 Fiona Apple is pretty awesome.

0 ...that's about all I've got.

*laughing* If I have to have a list of plotbunnies a mile long, so does everyone else!

Random: You have brokenprism as a community, I assume so you can easily have a separate journal to post with. Have you ever heard of the shared journal option? It lets you keep a separate journal as a writing journal or similar, post to it from your main journal, yet not have it as a community.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
NO. I'm relatively new to LJ and I pretty much suck at it, so no, I didn't know that existed. I just didn't want to have to sign in and out of journals at work, so I figured a comm was the way to go.

I'd thought of using a different account to post stuff for my current original story (since I'm working on it with my brother, then he could post as well), so I'll look into that separate journal thingey for that, then. I figured he and I would just both post into [livejournal.com profile] brokenprism, but ... that's worth looking into really, to keep fandom and original separate. SUCH A GEEK.

I used to run my own blog at my own website, so I'm really shite at this LJ stuff. I'm like "WHERE IS MOVEABLE TYPE ;___;" and then I spazz and change my BG colour for fun.

*laughing* OK. What you want to go is go into the LJ admin console from your [livejournal.com profile] first_seventhe account, which I'm assuming is the mod on [livejournal.com profile] brokenprism. If you open the reference, the one you want is "change_journal_type". The line you want to type is basically:

change_journal_type brokenprism shared

You can automatically post to it, and can add other users who can.

If you make another journal for beacon, set it up as a community and go through the same change_journal_type step, then do the following one:

shared -beaconjournal- add -your brother's LJ-

wherein you replace -beaconjournal- with the actual journal name, keep "add" the same, and replace -your brother's LJ- with his actual LJ name.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
HA. YEAH.

I guess it makes more sense to have a journal people can friend rather than a community, esp if my brother can still post. (Not that he really will - he seems to not like LJ - but I was hoping to get him in it anyway XD)

Why thank you ma'am!

Certainly! I got the instructions from the wonderful and talented [livejournal.com profile] laylah, who used it for [livejournal.com profile] precious_stones (her original boy-brothel work). I wanted to do something similar for a project myself ^.^; The option isn't even documented in the FAQs, as near as I can tell, just the admin console.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was searching the FAQ earlier to see what, exactly, it meant, and I couldn't find anything.

It does make it easier to have a separate fandom journal - I was just sick of people I know IRL having to wade through all this fanfic stuff :P

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I post fic to [livejournal.com profile] athyn (my writing journal) but I ramble about the creative process a lot in my personal journal.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I ramble about fic and fandom here, but I set up [livejournal.com profile] brokenprism to store the actual fic, since I've just redone my website and I'm pretty turned off of ff.net right now.
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
The solution to the problem of FF.net is Ficwad. SO MUCH BETTER.

I'm way behind on updating my website, but also I'm just a review whore, so I crosspost myself like crazy (FF.net, RPGamer when I can, Ficwad, LJ.)

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Eventually I'm going to set up my own fic archive on seventhe.net, so that I can store original fic and still get reviews and all.

However, I'm lazy, and suck at php.

lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I've been trying (slowly) to teach myself PHP. It goes very slowly.

I've given up archiving on my personal site and instead maintain a farm of links to get people to go read my stuff XD

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I lost like all interest in the unfinished stuff I have at ff.net. I am such a slacker.
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still interested in my unfinished stuff. I just have way too much of it to do!

Working on my [livejournal.com profile] aheadonourway claim right now, though. And I think I'm going to try to work it into being cross-postable for [livejournal.com profile] esper_cave and [livejournal.com profile] 100_chances if I can.

Is that cheating? =/

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
HA! NO WAY! That's what's known as AWESOME.
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh good. That's good to know.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
P.S. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO SHOW ME [livejournal.com profile] aheadonourway?!?? I totally want to claim something like "Magic" or "mages" or "Sorceresses" and I'm already having pipe dreams about hitting every single FF on my way through there.

I need no more claims, argh. XD
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You saw my list of claims. Total number of claimed themes = 1063. *headdesk* Completed = 17. This is why I'm trying to make multi-use fics!

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true, it's a hell of a list. Ohgods. Must resist temptation.
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Why resist? It's so much fun NOT to.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
*gives in* EEEEEEK.

100 new themes to play with.

OMGYEY.
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggling* Yay!

We should totally have an LJ community for griping about "OMG I claimed too many themes!"

....dude, that's actually not a bad idea.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, it's not at all. Perhaps for "OMG WHAT WAS I THINKING WITH THESE CLAIMS" as well as "I have too many plotbunnies in general" or "what will I do with all these ideas/unfinishedstories/etc?"

Because then somebody might like your ideas and inspire you to finish something...
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] onedeadbunny is kind of like that - a community to get together and finish unfinished stories - but I think something like "toomanythemes" or somesuch would also be cool for general ranting. :)

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Especially with LJ-related claims, because people from the same communities could come in and bitch. :P
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm totally doing this. Want to co-mod?

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
OMGYEY. This is brilliant.
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] too_many_claims. Once you join I'll add you as mod!
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
:) Sorry it took me a bit - had a manager sitting with me and generally one should not play on LJ when the manager is about. But you are modlike now.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
HAHAHA. No, also not when your coworkers are looking over your shoulders.
lassarina: (Default)

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, generally speaking :) We want to avoid getting in trouble.

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a good thing my computer's in the corner of the lab. I'm always worried people are going to sneak up on me when I'm reading smut XD.

[personal profile] lassarina 2006-07-20 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, we have an auto-scanner that security-checks all pages and blocks some of them based on content (anything with "games" in the meta, for example), so I just have to be really careful about where I go.

[identity profile] jennyclarinet.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
And on Thursday next week, you're going to hear Fuzzybox play at the dorm, right? right? riiieeeeggghhhhttt?? :)

[identity profile] first-seventhe.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
OOOOOOOOOOH REALLY. I was hoping they'd get something else after I heard they'd lost the weekly-gig...
