Assorted And Completely Unrelated Questions for my F-List

  1. Let's say Sev is thinking of asking for either an X-Box or a PS3 for Christmas. Tell me about both of them: pros and cons, games I can get, which you would recommend for someone who is kind of a shitty gamer anyway. Let's go!

  2. I have a bit of code I wrote a while ago that could potentially be used for a fic exchange. I'm not sure it's going to work for DOINK in any real context, but I've been itching to try it out on a VERY SMALL and VERY UNOFFICIAL scale. Basically how it works is: every person leaves 3 prompts; I make a master list of the anonymous prompts by number; you secretly send me 3 prompts you're willing to write; the code will assign you 1 prompt to write in a way that best covers as many participants as possible. Would anybody be interested in helping me test it out on a small unofficial scale? I could call it SevMas or something. My own personal boner exchange. I'm looking for a group of people, more than 5 but less than 15. Very low key, no promises, all I want is to run my damn code like a real loser, Sev/EXCEL OTP forever.

  3. I have been feeling very strangely fannish lately, probably because I've been imbibing on a lot more source material than usual: this is mostly the fault of [livejournal.com profile] safety_caesars/[personal profile] vrazdova. We are replaying FFX; I started a random replay of FFVIII when I was sick; we just watched Gundam Wing and I am rewatching it in English while I run. I'm kind of on fandom overdose. Any thoughts or liveblogs or meta posts or, god, I don't know whatever that people want to see? And/Or: if I start spamming my thoughts on GW episodes and writing massive essays on Quistis/Rinoa, please don't defriend me right away.

  4. WHAT'S UP

I've seen the series like five or six times and I always see something new every time I watch it.

PS3 is probably the one you want since the graphics are supposedly better and Sony usually focuses more on the RPs. What I would do is research the games you would like to play and see which system they are available on and which has the better controls and graphics for each game because some games play better on one system or the other.

It's a really complicated story, and I spent most of my time being gay for all the characters, rather than trying to follow all the details -- I found it really hard to keep track of things like WHERE shit was happening or WHERE they were coming from and jesus is this a colony or earth, oh my god, why are they everywhere OH WAIT IT'S QUATRE *STOPS PAYING ATTENTION*

so I really want to watch it again and pay more attention to that kind of stuff.

Yeah, PS3 also has a BluRay, and -- I don't have the world's nicest TV ever, but it's decent, and having a bluray player would be cool if I was already going to spend the money. I'll just have to look up the games and see what's what.

I didn't even notice Trowa the first time I watched it because I was so focused on Wufei and knowing what was happening plot wise.

Since you like RPs if you are into Noir you should seriously check out LA Noire. It is one of the most amazing games I've seen and the play is wide open so you can replay it over and over again with variations on how it flows.

Whereas I was kind of the opposite -- I was trying really hard to keep track of the pilots that were together, and since Wufei is kind of doing his own thing for a long time I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE WHAT HE DID FOR THE FIRST LIKE 20 EPS. I shit you not. Hooray for being able to rewatch, LOLSOB.

Oooooh, thank you, i will look that up! Have you played any of the Final Fantasy games? Those are kind of my comfort zone, although I'd love to play more stuff.

Wufei is definitely a man with his own mind.

I have never played any of the FF games, but I have watched other people play and enjoyed that.

I actually felt almost bad because I got to the end of the game and I seriously liked Wufei - that thing with Treize was like *SOBS FOREVER* - but I felt like I didn't understand his character at all in a way that meant I could write it. Because I had been so lost.

Wufei is a seriously complex character and really hard to get a handle on. I always struggle when I write him.
