Jul. 24th, 2009 01:31 pmokay, so once I had a Twitter. I was, in fact, pretending to be Reno from FFVII, but I had a Twitter. It was linked to my phone, which was nice, until the other people in the group took off with replies and I ended up with 500000 unread text messages on my phone, which I did not want. So I turned off the phone option, and as I'm sure you'll all notice, I no longer use the Reno Twitter.
Let's say I was going to set up my own Twitter from my phone. And I wanted to get notifications on it, but only when someone was actually talking to me. so I only want text messages sent to me if they have the @sev (or whatever) tag in them.
Is there a way to do this? Remember Sev is old and Twitter-stupid before you make fun, people.

Date: 2009-07-24 05:56 pm (UTC)I just set up twitter on my phone, and while a few new tweets have appeared on the site since then, none of them have been sent to me.

Date: 2009-07-24 08:49 pm (UTC)I do not have things sent to my phone, mostly because omg RPers on Twitter I die, but I know that you can set your phone to only forward you updates from specific people. I dunno.

Date: 2009-07-25 04:57 am (UTC)There's one service that will let you send a text, and get a response (or series of responses) with your latest @replies.
Something I'm working on, however, is a program that takes my @replies and re-tweets them to a separate account which I then subscribe to on my phone. Kind of round-about but it should work.

Date: 2009-07-26 02:29 am (UTC)When I was at PyCon I signed up to get SMS messages from the PyCon twitter. And while sometimes it was useful "Event X happening at 12:30!" most of the time it was just spam. Eventually found it was just better to check it on a regular basis.
But I want notification of my @replies too so I can get back to people faster. And because I'm a narcissist.
I need to figure out how to get Twitter OAuth working. The rest should be trivial. When I get it working I'll let you know...
