I have not been to work since 15 December, barring one unavoidable trip in for a meeting and some interesting news about next year. This means I have not worked for 18 days. I'm pretty sure this is the longest "break" I have had since... I don't even think I took that much time off between graduating college and starting my job in 2005, but 2005 has the best chance of being it. If it wasn't 2005, it would be ... I don't even know; I worked every summer of college too. Maybe summer of 2000. Maybe. It has been that long.

Anyway, that isn't the point. This 18 days off has not been a real vacation -- the holidays never are. It's been full of work-like stuff: getting Christmas arranged, driving, visiting, cleaning, laundry, seeing relatives. There have been people all over it - not much alone time here - and there's been plenty to do. However, there has been enough free time that I have been able to come to a very valuable conclusion, and it is this:

I would like very much to become a gentlewoman of leisure entirely.

I realize that this might not hold up after, say, a year of leisure entirely, but life: I am willing to accept that challenge.
