They are SO a pairing I can get behind! They are the first pairing I ever wrote for FF8, ever, and I started the fic before I had completely finished the game because I just fell so hard for them!
SO THIS WILL BE MORE THAN A SENTENCE.
Irvine I love on principle: I felt it was so obvious that he put up this big being-a-player front to keep people at a distance, and behind it was this insecure, funny/goofy/silly, sincere, sweet cowboy guy. He tried so hard with everything but he was the only one who remembered their pasts and, really, how sad is that?
And Selphie's awesome - I'm serious, her combination of chipper-spunky-happy and super-explosions-demolitions-blow-it-to-smithereens makes her certifiably crazy in my book, and I love it.
I loved the way Irvine remembered Selphie and latched on to her - everything was about her, from then on, in a way; he tells them in Trabia, her home, and he follows her into the cockpit of the Ragnarok and sticks by her side and...
