[30Days]: FAVORITE FF CHARACTERS, PAIRINGS, AND WHY.

Okay! This couldn't have come at a better time, because, well, today has been cold and grey and grumpy and work sucked and homework sucks and lots of other people are in the suck, and guess what: IT IS TIME FOR SOME FANGIRLING.

lassarina asked for Favourite FF Characters and Ships and Why.

This... is the kind of answer I could spend thousands of words on. I have a lot of favorites, from a lot of games, and a lot to say about them! So I'm going to make this fun and challenging and way more entertaining to read for all of you: I'm only going to give myself one sentence about my favorites, both characters and pairings (although I am still allowed to abuse punctuation).

I've played I-III, but (a) I've never beaten them (I am so not the completionist) and (b) the characters didn't stick in my head, so: I'm going to start with FFIV and I will move through and point at my favorites and it doesn't mean I don't love the others, but this really has to be about favorites, so, yeah.

Final Fantasy: Characters and Pairings I Really Like

FFIV - can I say everybody? like really, I love every character in this game. I really do.

Rydia - Powerful, inhuman, imperfect, and always growing: everybody likes a fiery snarker with a heart of gold.
Edge - The only party member without a stick up his arse.

Cecil/Rosa: A romantic love story I actually buy.
Cecil/Rosa/Kain: The most efficient solution to all those pesky problems.

Rydia/Edge/Kain: They are all exactly what the other needs.

FFV

Faris - A pirate after my own sea-monster-loving heart.

FFVI - secretly casts another vote for "all"

Terra - Inhuman woman finds love and meaning through NOT A MAN; is the defender, not the protected; is hot as an Esper.
Kefka - Annoying comic relief becomes megalomanic world-destroying crazy baddie: best enemy storyline ever.

Locke/Celes - They are so beautiful when broken.
Terra/Shadow - Both have lost parts of themselves.
Edgar/Sabin - THEY JUST COMPLETE EACH OTHER OKAY
Terra/Celes - In looking to heal their wounds and lay their pasts to rest, they'd have to face and find each other.
Edgar/Locke - You Know It Happened.

Terra/Locke/Celes - They're a triangle of Espers, memories, and the trick of (not) letting go. (Alternate sentence: I CAN'T UNSEE IT OKAY)

FFVII

Tifa - Strong, beautiful, caring, kicks ass and shares my birthday.
Reno - Lives in a dumpster (HOOOOOOOOOOOOOME) and watches the Turks on secret webcams; he is my hobo soulmate.
Nanaki - 'Steel in his eyes, fire on his tail, honour in his teeth' - he is so goddamn awesome it hurts. (Alternate sentence: SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)

Tifa/Aeris - They like so many of the same things; they have so much to teach each other.
Cloud/Yuffie - She steals his bike, his materia, his underwear and his heart, in that order.
Tifa/Vincent - Still have a weakness for it
Cid/Shera - because it ain't always sunshine and roses; sometimes it's rocketships and goddam tea.
Rude/Tifa - Mature quiet love is sooooo gosh darn pretty (and they'd have EPIC fights)
Reno/Tifa - He'd make her laugh, and she'd realize she needs it.
Tseng/Elena - She never stops trying to impress him - and succeeding.

FFVIII

Quistis - because I am her and she is me; the end.

Laguna - Goofy/smart/bumbling/hot/imperfect/funny and still trying.
Irvine - So sincere under that mask it's hard to take his flirting anything but seriously.

Everyone/Everyone - Seriously, this list was too long, I omniship this game and refuse to be ashamed of it; I literally cannot think of a single pairing I would not get behind (that is a challenge, Flist; comment with a pairing you love and I'll write you a sentence on why they are AWESOME)

FFIX

Freya - emo asskicking Dragoonism in a way that just makes me sad
Beatrix - beautiful badass; enough said.

Zidane/Garnet - another love story I can buy and believe in.
Freya/Amarant - I JUST LOVE THEM, SHUSH

FFX/X2

Yuna - Strong as steel in a way that's entirely her own.
Auron - If you didn't have a crush on Auron I don't think we can be friends.
Rikku - The silly spunkiness hides an engineer's brainpower; can feel awfully familiar.
Paine - Becky has never been hotter.

Braska/Auron/Jecht - will undo my heart every time.
Lulu/Rikku - Al Bhed and Yevon, magic and machina, sunshine and moonlight (and Yuna is their dusk and dawn)
Paine/Nooj - You should all know perfectly well who to blame for this one.

FFXII

Ashe - I liked her strength and her stubbornness.
Fran - Enigmatic, magical, sexy, intriguing, and beats down Balthier's ego: win.
Larsa - I will forever be tempted to write underage overintelligent superobservant boy emperor porn.

Balthier/Ashe - because there aren't any good solutions.
Basch/Ashe - Loyalty!kink.
Basch/Vossler - because the only thing hotter/sadder than honour and loyalty is knowing what comes next.
Larsa/Everyone - and Larsa tops.

KEEP IN MIND THIS IS AN ABBREVIATED LIST; I LIKE ALMOST ALL PAIRINGS AND IT'S SUPER HARD TO PICK FAVORITES, WHAT

OK FOR REAL, KIROS/SEIFER COULD SO WORK; I already ship Laguna/Seifer (...I TOLD YOU) and it isn't a hard jump from Seifer chilling in Esthar and doing some Sorceress-y work with Odine like community service and stuff, and Kiros is assigned by Esthar to keep an eye on him but of course Seifer's all jumpy and dickish and Kiros smacks some sense into him. WITH HIS DICK.

Ward/Zell would be the "I was in your body and it was hot, let's do it" PWP.
