Mobile Game Monday
May. 14th, 2018 11:33 ami am absolutely and completely nicking an idea from
lassarina and am going to attempt to create a new series: Mobile Game Mondays! I love mobile games, I am addicted to mobile games, they take up a lot of my gaming time and provide a lot of entertainment and general stress relief / distraction for me. let's make them a feature of my life rather than a bug and have some fun discussion!
right now i have 5 games on my phone i would like to be playing, but really only have time to maintain 3: Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, and Love Nikki. I have FF Dissidia Opera Omnia and Mobius FF on my phone as well, but don't have the time to play those as much at all if I want to keep up with my main three. the thing about mobile games - that is the draw as well as the catch - is dailies: daily logins for rewards, completion of X things, etc. that keeps the player coming back to the game every day. I can't maintain dailies on 5 games, so Mobius and DOO I will end up playing at my own speed at some point for the story only.
FFRK
FFRK is my main jam, although I've recently lost some speed on it due to me dumping time into FFBE. FFRK remains the game I'm the best at and the game that's my favorite to play (i'm a week1 player), so it's no surprise that I'm sitting at the peak of the current endgame. My goals for May/June are pretty hard ones:
- farm all 3* magicites at least twice (i am 3/8 on this)
- work on sub-30 for the 3* magicites (i am only 1/8 on this)
- beat at least one 4* magicite (i've done this - Midgarsormr had nothing to say against my extremely overpowered Fujin and Edge)
- clear out at least 50% of the Torments
- Crystal Tower completion
- Mote Dive Orlandeau and two other guys i have forgotten
As you can see, it's quite a list. I've recently lucked into some real superpower on relics (Orlandeau USB, Cinque USB, Rem BSB, Dorgann USB) that may end up changing my ability honing strategy if I choose to roll with them. I think I'm kind of in overanalysis paralysis with the game rn because of that -- time to focus. Today during breaks and after work I want to clear the Crystal Tower before it expires.
I really need to start working on Torments because apparently they are expiring in July -- but ugh, Torments. of all the things i don't understand about this game, I can wipe the floor with a 4 star magicite but Torments are frigging hard for me. what. don't look at me like that man. don't.
FFBE
so FFBE and I have a mixed and sordid history; i've been playing for a long time, almost as long as FFRK, but my interest really waxes and wanes which puts me at a weird point - definitely behind the current meta, but definitely not newbie level either. the last month or so i've really been back into it, grinding raids and events as well as finally leveling up my espers and making progress in story (where all that delicious lapis is hiding).
it helps because i've pulled some fun units and gotten some good stuff recently. i think this wave of interest started during the FFX event, where i was lucky enough to get Yuna and Lulu both; this made for some great event farming not just because i had the high bonus units, but because with an appropriate friend they were able to ride the event by themselves, rather than needing a carry unit (which is always more fun). I landed all of the Dragon Quest characters except Liquid Metal Slime just from random pulls, so I harvested like mad on that event and now have their awesome TMs to farm. The last two raids have been easy for me as well which has been fun for collecting raid drops.
In addition to Lulu and Yuna, I've also obtained Mystea, Cagnazzo, Wilhelm, Fryevia, and a second Ashe (for Ashe chaining). I also snagged Olive's TMR gun, making her a powerhouse, and Emperor's TMR rod (although it will likely go on an Ashe). I enhanced Ramza's buff song, I enhanced Xon for gils and drops, I've maxed out Frye and Cag at L100... but there's still so much to do...
Olive has been carrying me through most events by brute force, with her badass gun, all her ATK buffs, and Heavy Arms enhanced to +2. However, from what I've read Fryevia is one hell of a damage dealer and is likely to become my go-to - once I farm appropriate equipment and TMRs for her. So now I'm sitting on 3 million gil and some crysts, wondering whether I want to spend it further enhancing Olive for immediate benefit or investing in Fry for future benefit. obviously the answer is both, but ffs, farming in this game is such a chore. ugh send help!
goals this month involve leveling most of my good new pulls, pulling the trigger on some enhancements, and doing a lot with the half-priced story stamina to get some sweet ass lapis.
i'm out of time at work to post about Love Nikki - but that can be in a comment or in next week's post.
What's on your mobile? What are you enjoying? If you play RK, what was your most recent awesome relic pull, and what's your goal for the next week? if you play BE, any advice for my poor enhancement team?

Date: 2018-05-14 05:52 pm (UTC)I really like FFRK, but since I'm so brand new I'm still learning the game. I know how to create and hone abilities, but I haven't done much pulling of gacha. I dove into the renewal dungeons when those were open and got a ton more characters, but wasn't able to finish them all. Now I'm not sure what to do in the game. I was trying to finish the FFXIII Beginner's Dungeon but ran into problems on one of the higher levels. Usually I can steamroll everything with auto-attacks, so having issues with a fight threw me for a loop.
FFBE remains my main game. Olive is not really part of the meta, but I still adore her because she's so strong and can carry you through hard events (she's my carry unit for King Mog farming). She also gets quite high attack with minimal TMRs, which is nice. If you're going to enhance her some more, I'd do True Shot next. I don't use Shattering Shot very often; the few times I've brought a friend Olive to raid bosses, I've used Pirate Jake's Parrley to imperil lightning instead of using one of the Olive's Shattering Shots. I wouldn't bother to enhance Mortar Beacon, as I haven't done that myself.
Fryevia is indeed very strong, but needs TMRs. I wish I had her myself. I'd get her needle first, if you don't have it already. I believe Letter and Arms is still good for her, but I'm not positive about that since I don't have her. I like this unit builder for figuring out how to gear my units. Oh, I just did a search for her BiS, and according to this thread it's Kunshira's TMR instead of L&A. Didn't know that.
I had to delete Love Nikki from my Kindle because I was running out of space. I hadn't touched the game in a while anyway; I kind of flailed when I had to build an outfit that wasn't very obvious on what to pick, and was afraid of failing the challenge. I might try seeing if it's available for my phone, because I did like the game.
I'm also attempting to play Mobius, where I am having mixed results. I'm in the Novice Hall right now, and sometimes I have failed a stage. I figured out how to enhance jobs, which seems to help but I'm still struggling at times. Which is a shame, because I really enjoy Wol's snarkiness.
I need to get back into DFFOO, I've just logged in for daily rewards the past few days. My goal had been to finish Chapter 3 so I could do the Girl From Oerba Lost Chapter and get Vanille, who I wanted because I had her 35 CP weapon. I've now done that, so don't feel too much pull to log in and play, hmm. I know the further I get in the main story, the easier it will be to do the special events (I tried viewing Ace's cutscene to get him but it wanted me to be in Chapter 5, I believe) so I should just rush the main story, I guess.
I'm also poking at KHUX occasionally. It's cute, and I got invited to a party which makes it more fun, though it's also a guilt trip because I feel like I'm not pulling my weight in the party.
One game I've really been ignoring is FATE/GO, which is a shame because when I first started it I really liked it. But I'm just struggling with playing all these games. I think my issue is that I don't really start playing until the evening, but then I get tired and not in the mood. Maybe if I do my playing earlier in the day before I start my crafting I'd get more done.

Date: 2018-05-14 07:13 pm (UTC)(then again, i still have story to do - im maybe 1-2 chap away on maiden, 3-4 on princess, and i still have some bonus levels left too. maybe the game will lose some shine after that ... but probably not)
my new obsession is the makeup faces..... which sucks because often they're like the last thing you get from a suit... but they're so great!

Date: 2018-05-14 07:21 pm (UTC)Without any kind of skilled transition...
I started FFRK in summer? 2016? I think? So I'm coming up on two years. Still hooked even though I haven't touched any other game.
News:
Since I routinely google for help when stuck on uber bosses, I knew Torments would close sometime after they all opened, and I've been working on finishing them. Yesterday, VICTORY WAS MINE: I beat the last Cid Mission, and my Torment is OVER.
It hurt my soul. During this last Fest I've been burning mythril to draw FFXI relics, since I'd been neglecting the games I don't know. All I got was Supers. I hated to pour MCIII crystals and 4* motes into characters with no BSBs, Ultras, Chains, and just one piddly Overstrike (Ayame) among the lot of them. But now I have a passable party for every realm except Type-O and XV, so I guess the Torments were useful for that.
Opposite of you, I've only JUST started my Magicite career after finally breaking Bismark and starting my way around the Magicite wheel 3 weeks ago. Still can't beat Black Fang Whatsit Dark Dragon, so I'm working on polishing up all my other 3* magicites and especially Refia's mum. I've only got a few at 99.
I've recently finished another project: completing all the 220 difficulty dungeons that reopened, since I was stuck on about a third of them. ROSETTA STONES YAY.
I think my best recent draw was two Fairie Tales for Selphie, her Ultra weapon. I am patiently sinking Rosetta Stones into them one at a time.
Also, I got Sarah's Ultra, which makes me happy. I only had her BSB before, but it was a really handy Magic Blink, Medica-all or Heal+Regen one person relic. Her Ultra is a great way to start a battle: Shellga, Hastega, boost party's attack/magic, and stock everybody with 2000HP. Plus she's a bard, and I have a knack for exploiting bards.
So now after a busy few months I'm just grinding magicites, finishing a few dives (Orlandeau, Eiko), honing abilities. And enjoying having good teams for nearly every element. I have almost no chains, no arcanes, and precious few ultras, but I've got imperil in every element except poison, so I make do. Still struggling to get enough goodies for Lulu, grumble.
Am I the only idiot with a Numbers app spreadsheet to help me keep track of who's got what elements, plus mote diving?

Date: 2018-05-14 07:23 pm (UTC)FFRK starts to get addicting once you start picking up some relics that are fun for your play style, imo - so you're gonna have to pull at some point ;) but the beginning of the game manages to be fairly straightfoward so that you can start collecting orbs and gil and hones. and that sweet, sweet mythril. let me know if you have any questions or thoughts, I'm v happy to talk about the game!
Olive has been a beast at carrying me through events, and it's tempting to just go +2 on True Shot and call her done for now. I can always farm more gil ... right ...? haha.
Frye will take some time for me to build with what i have. Since I only have one of her, I'll farm that Needle (I'm so behind in story I'm still owed a 100% moogle; my plan is thus to bust through the story during half price and then use it on Frye); I have two Draces, so I could farm her TMR as Frye's other weapon. I do have a kunshira, but only one; I have two Ingus, which makes 3 boosting materia to go with my DW on her. it's just. FARMINGGGGGGGGG. I just got myself set up with a macro to farm TMs in Earth Shrine, but with so many limited things going on lately to use stamina on, i haven't really taken too much advantage of it yet. Do you macro anything? I find the TM system super frustrating. :P
Mobius and DOO I'm kind of in the same place - I need to just blitz through some story, and then maybe i can just keep up with events later, but right now it was just too much.

Date: 2018-05-14 07:31 pm (UTC)I am SO JEALOUS of your Torment status. I actually have a page in my hobobujo where I listed out all the Torments so that I can color them in as I go, for motivation. Sadly it backfires sometimes because I still have sooooo many to go. Time to focus on the motes I'll get as motivation!
Selphie and Sarah USBs are *rad*. Nice pulls! Sarah is really an underrated healer; I love her BSB, and with Bard access she's got a lot of options.
Dark Dragon was literal hardest for me -- stupid Black Fang. I did a lot of reading online on suggested strategy, and my initial win had a throwaway character to eat the fang + me gritting my teeth for the next 50 seconds. I now have Orlandeau USB, though, which is supposed to be a mega game changer, so I look forward to experimenting with that.
And I haven't updated my spreadsheet in a while, but I DO in fact have a huge log of what elemental SBs I have, and I started trying to log my boosts until that part made me cry ^^

Date: 2018-05-14 08:57 pm (UTC)i just do the math and i can't understand how people end up with so many TMRs. So: 2x 1% moogle no sat and Sun. 1x 5%(?) moogle weekly from expeditions. usually 10%-15% available from MK, but not weekly. occasionally more available from events/raids, but not regularly. WHERE DO PEOPLE GET ALL THAT TMR? even macroing all night the most you might see is like 3% and just. i dunno. perhaps i am a lazy?
LB farming is something i should do more of, and don't >.>

Date: 2018-05-14 09:14 pm (UTC)Then there are the crafting Hell Suits, which are pretty much things like Starsea and Marionette Grice, they usually take several evolved pieces of Princess gear to complete. I am on working on Stunning Beauty, which is a Cloud outfit and which will probably take me until the end of July to do

Excalibur
Ring of the Lucii x2
Pod 153 x2
Rikku's Pouch
Draco Spike x2
Wisdom
Quick Assault x2
Katana Mastery
Minerva Bustier
Most came from moogles. I feel embarrassed that I spent moogles on that last one since Celes is only a 3*, but I needed it for a trial and didn't want to wait to farm it. Excalibur i farmed with 5 Cecils, but one of them was already at, like, 20% or so when I started.
I doubt you are lazy. People really do macro that much, plus let's not forget all the whales who are getting TMRs by fusing. Even i have gotten a few TMRs by fusing dupes (Lordly Robe and Innocence come to mund; there may be others I'm forgetting).
And I've leveled most of my LBs via pots. It's just been since I got the phone a month ago that I've tried farming them.

Date: 2018-05-15 04:15 am (UTC)I'll be sitting out the next event in Fate/GO, because I don't want to crash the story like I did for the last one and I'm just not that interested.
I got two banner units for FFBE (Shylt and Mim) so I'm doing all right farming that, though I'm just sort of vaguely yawning at it.
And in RK, I got some very nice pulls (Ace and Nine Burst and Y'shtola LM) so I'll be happy when I get to the end of the Type 0 event. Farming RM is my bane though.

Date: 2018-05-16 11:18 am (UTC)Mobile Game Monday it is, then! ... Or Wednesday, at least for me this week. ^_^;
Preparing to select a new Union Leader in Age of Ishtaria so that Mrs. Samu and I can retire from that game, as originally planned.
Not a whole lot I can do in FGO right now, since I am pretty casual in that and my level is low, so I have been skating from day to day, getting my log-in rewards and saving 'em up for a Saint Quartz pull.
FE Heroes is still my headline game. Almost time for another Grand Conquest, and my Brigade of 20 Level 40 5* Heroes is hungry. Recently had a great pull in the form of 5* Lene from the most recent Genealogy of the Holy War banner, too. My favorite mobile game, no question about it. Great for fanfic, too.
Memoria Freese is a fun distraction, but not much more than that, which is fine.
Mrs. Samu is trying Love Nikki, and I have been having a look at that over her shoulder. Might give it a go.

Date: 2018-05-17 01:21 am (UTC)I have been slacking on FFRK ever since I finally started playing Dissidia Opera Omnia which is ommmmg so much nostalgia and fun I just ***rolls around in dissidia*** and I would say more but I need to have Terra + Tifa + Yuffie beat some sense into Vincent.
Re: FFBE - I downloaded it a month ago because somehow it completely escaped my awareness and I started but I am just a few hours in. So much grinding still ahead of me. ;)

I've heard much about FE Heroes, but I need another addicting mobile game like I need another sinus infection >.>

Date: 2018-05-18 06:58 pm (UTC)FFBE can be a very grindy game once you get to a certain level of caring about ongoing events; that's where you get the good stuff, sure, but normal pulls will get you good enough characters to pound the story once you get a set team. plus, the protags arrrreee soooooo gaaayyyyy i mean what who said that
