So this is cool.

I got an email this morning from a fan who wants to translate the "Warming Up" series into Italian!

OKAY. SRSLY. WOW.

She also said nice things about the series, which always makes me feel super awesome.

She also had an interesting comment about my writing style which I assume would never have been noticed otherwise by a native-English speaker, as we tend to gloss over things like that: apparently I tend to repeat words, mainly simple words like "said" and "says". This is the kind of thing that probably sticks out a lot in a translation, but most other readers would miss and/or not comment on (unless doing real beta-work, which I kindasortadon'tdo). So that's awesome, as well - something I may never have thought of had she not come along to translate!

(I'm not really sure how true it is as I haven't read my own work in a while, but it's something I'll keep in mind as I continue to write. I am just easily amused.)

Also, it makes me want to get back to "Warming Up"...

Neat! I've had someone translate all four of my Shadow of the Colossus fics into Thai, which is a beautiful language I will never, ever understand on my own. She has to translate the comments for me as well, being a native Thai-speaker and a seemingly fluent English reader as well.

OMG AURORA PROJECT. Talk about HAVEN'T TOUCHED IN A WHILE.

The sad thing is, and this happens with pretty much everything I write: I've got the beginning started, and the end in my head, and then ...I lose myself in the middle and all my WIPs just SIT THERE OMG.

I need motivation. In the form of like, a cattle prod, or something.

Anyway, Thai?! That is awesome. And freaking hard. I am amazed at language-people.

I've got the electrified prod and a red-hot poker. Don't think I won't use them if I am pressed.

I know what you mean, though. That fic I'm working on has stalled right around halfway; I have it all plotted out, I just can't seem to get the ideas typed for the life of me. Hopefully it'll come in the next six weeks or so.

Same thing. I know (mostly) what I want to happen at certain points, it's just filling in the blanks and my brain goes "Urrrhhh" like a zombie and then I go do something fantastically productive like eat chocolate.
