Denial is a dish best served cold, cowboy that traitorous voice in his mind smartly tells him.

Irvine mentally rifles through his Junctions to make sure he has something to use that isn't third-level; he doesn't actually want to hurt the other man. "You aren't even Junctioned," he offers.
Three minutes later Irvine is being revived in the Infirmary with a horrible headache and the desperate desire for a rematch.
