I’m compiling myself some notes and thoughts about original fiction, and I’m trying to find a good intersection of things I’m interested in, things i’m good at, and things that might sell.

I really like how you write about relationships and dialogue. Back in the FFVII livejournal days where I lurked as a middle-schooler, I thought all your fic read as authentic and your write distinct personalities through how exact and frank your dialogue was.

I like how invested you are in worldbuilding, mix genres, and lore. I have to be honest, romance is often the least interesting part of fiction for me and I'm eh on white dudes, so that's, like, a good percentage of fiction I'm not going to bother with. When you wrote that Tseng/Elena fic for me years ago, you breathed so much life into not just the pairing, but the world they lived in. Their own little Turk world. I LOVED that.

Your Ausrine verse also comes to find. Fantasy elements in a sci-fi setting isn't explored nearly enough! But I appreciate that you went for it; you mixed werewolves and wards with spaceships and that's fantastic to me.

You take these technical concepts and infuse elegance and beauty into them. THAT SOUNDS SUPER ABSTRACT and not at all helpful, I know, but it's what I like from your writing.

I love the intricacies when you write relationships. I love the turns of phrase and the way you infuse things with both gravitas and lulz (LOCKE'S COCK). I love how much emotional punch you put into things and they way you build things together, from details to feelings to plots.

I agree with what everyone else has already said, and I’d like to add “highly readable prose style that makes you want to keep going.” You have good rhythm, the sort that only comes from long practice. When I read your stuff, the flow of words feels so natural, effortless even. I can sit down and get lost in the story and the next thing I know an hour has passed.
