Dearest Anonymous Reviewer:

I think that you were giving us crit?, or at least trying to point something out about the FFVIII gameworld that you believe we missed*. Hey, FFVIII can be a confusing game. We've got a good handle on the background, but I'm always interested in what other people may have seen in the game, as well as critique or suggestion. No problems there.

However? If you want to actually give some kind of legitimacy to your suggestion?

You might want to spell the names of the three Gardens correctly.

Somehow, if you don't even know how to spell Balamb, Galbadia, and Trabia, I really don't think you know more about how Garden works than we do.

A typo is one thing. "Tribira" is another.

Our story's right there. The names are in there. You just read them (supposedly).

* Never mind that your suggestion, once I figured out what you were saying, didn't make any sense (1) at all and (2) in the context of our story and what we had done with SeeD moving forward from the end of the game.

Let's check with Dr. Kadowaki. She says it's a fungus often caught in the cold weather of Trabia by idiots who go out in the cold without hats on.

Tribira sounds like some sort of disturbing fungal infection of the knee.

Maybe it's the SeeD version of athlete's foot?

I hate when people leave reviews that they expect you to take seriously, and you can't because they are obviously mentally retarded.

It's like people who leave reviews saying "I hate this pairing" when the pairing was clearly marked on the summary. WHY READ IT. DUMB.

I couldn't even figure out what this person was saying in the first place, but the fact that they mis-spelled some really fucking important names sealed the deal for me.

And yeah. Or people who are like "Great fic I hope it's not Seifer/Quistis" ...um, but if it's a great fic shouldn't you like it no matter what the pairing?

The idea of reading exclusively for pairings sort of does my head in anyway >>. Yes, I'm naturally inclined to Seifer/Quistis or fics concerning characters I like (Beatrix\Celes\Q etc) but let's face it, HNtDB is one of my favourite fics and it's certainly not a pairing I'd google for. I only discovered S/Q because the fic wasn't marked with a pairing.

On another related note: I finally translated that review and...it's not even true as far as I recall XD.

#1 - yeah, I don't know, I'm kind of an omni...reader? I'll read anything and I actually prefer a story where there's a plot and the relationship aspects kind of fall into the background. I've never really understood people who won't read a fic just because of a pairing. I mean, certain pairings might imply badfic, like, say, Tifa/Sephiroth. But I would read pretty much anything done well. My preferences are non-pairing-specific.

...but that's another rant for another day. What the heck was the review saying anyway?? As far as I can tell it was something about how BG was the only Garden that made SeeDs (which is canon)...? MY BRAINS.

Oh, backseat fic writers are the best thing ever...or not. This comes right on the heels of me proclaiming to my wife that *everyone* in "FF" fandom on the internets is really intelligent and thoughtful ~ I guess this now ranks with other great proclamations I have made like 'CDs will never replace floppy disks' and 'They'll never make a "Terminator 2"'.

Ho hum.

Still, aside from this idiot, "FF" fandom is the awesomest. Complete kudos to you for pushing the storyline of the Gardens forwards.

HAHAHA. No, I really do love FF fandom, and mostly because it's populated by friendly geeks who would LOVE to hear your theories on Seifer/Quistis, or how Aeons actually work, or whatever! Of course there are exceptions, but really, FF fandom is fairly positive.

...SO, you know I was totally just waiting for you to discover that review, right? RIGHT.

Tribira. Seriously. Also, "acidemics" makes me think that maybe you should study under a lead umbrella.

...and you are studying the fungus Tribira idiotiica, which grows on people too stupid to form a coherent sentence. XD

I ALMOST POSTED IT THERE, HAHA. But I didn't really think it was worthy; it was just two mis-spellings. :P

Pretty much. VALID COMMENT? I THINK NOT.

Considering I come from one of those fandoms which is so thickly complex with trivial, extraneous information that people feel the need to shout it out at every possible opportunity to prove that they're paying more attention than everyone else (AN - HOMG SOLID SNAKE DYES HIS HAIR, LIKES SAUNAS, AND HIS FAVOURITE FOOD IS BLUEBERRIES AM I SMART YET) I am really, really sick of that whole attitude.

So add that whole goddamn can of stupid to a general 'hur hur i'm an idiot' can of stupid and what do you have? STUPID PIE.

I'm quite alarmed that people like this actually exist and comment on things, and can only express my utter pity and concern.

Added bonus: I am fairly sure that when I sat down and actually figured out what they were trying to say, it was wrong. Potentially wrong in the context of FF8 itself, and definitely wrong in the context of our fic.

STUPID PIE WITH A TOPPING OF WHIPPED FAIL.

I hate when people do that, though. "Don't you know that if you go into the secret bonus room, do the secret bonus dance, and then read the computer, it tells you that Quistis' favorite kind of dessert is definitely dark chocolate? YOU NOOB."
