Well, things are a little bit better, and by "better" I mostly mean "I am finally alone for a little bit of recharge time." I'm in my second hotel, of course in a smoking room because they were out of non-smoking rooms, and I'm really thinking of bailing on the dinner plans and just hiding in my room all night and perhaps ordering a pizza or something megalame because this Holiday Inn Express is in the middle of Scary Bumfuckville, Louisiana. I really want a Diet Coke but I can't bring myself to wander out of my room.

I am still exhausted, but the good thing about extending the trip is that we don't have to crunch out another 12-hour day. (The bad thing, of course, is that the trip goes another day... but you can't win everything, right? Sometimes I hate being salaried. I'd be earning gobs of overtime.)

I don't even know what I am running on anymore. I have been working 50-hr weeks since March. I have been running almost nonstop since April. The past four weeks are like a blur with work and finals and more work. Sometimes I think I am just fueled on caffeine and stupid Taurus stubbornness.

To interrupt the bitch: I found out that the Saturn Wingdings Car has XM Radio. I really want XM Radio now. Although I will be in like 30,000 more car accidents because I will be too busy playing with it. It has awesome channels! It tells you the name of the song and the artist! I want it, badly.

Sometimes it's really scary to me that people let me do this. You know? That my company is actually allowing me - me! - to drive around Louisiana like a crazy person, and to get into the plant by myself, and to walk around the plant and do my own sampling and do my own testing, and they're just like 'Yeah, go ahead and stay an extra day, just charge it on your corporate card'. It's terrifying. I did not think I was this important; I do not really like being this important.

Anyway, that is enough randomness. I think I will go in search of that Diet Coke and then play my DS for a blissful while. (I brought myself FFV because I have had a craving for it after reading [livejournal.com profile] rosencrantz's story on [livejournal.com profile] 26cockjokes and I told myself FFV could be my reward for this trip. Yes.) Then my co-worker will call and I will have to decide how much I want to eat tonight vs how much I want to be mugged by the bridge trolls.

I think I'll make it.

edit - oh, and I passed both my classes. I got an A and a B+. Because I live in bizarroland, I got the A in the chem class in which I could have totally gotten 0 points on the final, and I got the B+ in the thermo class which I actually thought I understood and did well in. I do not understand the University of Akron.

Oh well. Fuck it, I passed. There's a small stupid portion of me that wanted to get As in both and is actually a little disappointed, but the rest of me is currently kicking that small portion's ass, which should take care of that.

double edit -- On my way to the vending machine, I saw that this hotel is right across the street from a graveyard. Awesome*. Did you know that in the south they don't do headstones? They do what looks like above-ground stone coffin things. They look cool. I am such a Yankee.

*This isn't sarcastic; I love graveyards.

Yay for doing well! Knew you would.

And ooh, graveyard. I used to always go and write in graveyards.

I love graveyards. They are one of my favorite places to photograph or walk around. They are all so pretty and peaceful!

I'm glad things are going better, and congratulations on passing both classes! See? I sometimes give good advice! (me and like, half of your f-list) Once you're done with all your extra stuff for work, it'll be vacation time! Kinda.

I love XM radio. My brother has one, and I've used it once or twice. I haven't gotten around to getting one, although the amount of driving I do on a weekly basis would justify my getting one. However, I usually listen to AM talk radio anyway, so maybe not.

We sometimes take Mojo to Mount Peace cemetary to run around and poop in. He loves it. I only recently found out that that is where Dr. Bob from AA is buried! (my mom's a big AA person)

Come home soon!

I am obsessed with this XM radio. I might shed a little tear when I have to give it up. It's so cool. I feel like a five-year-old with radio ADD.

Good that you're feeling better, even if it's not better better.

My Mother has a phenomenal ability to locate graveyards wherever we go and generally bring out the death angle in everything (I got the Book of the Dead for my 13th birthday and she inadvertently tracks the seasons by the volume of roadkill around) and I do find them really peaceful, apart from the one time she found a very modern graveyard where everyone in it had died under the age of 35. I don't really understand why we Westerners have so many hang ups about death/places associated with it.

Congrats on the classes! I find chocolate does a good job of silencing the fenickity* part that likes to ruin slightly imperfect achievements, though you may prefer gin.

I don't understand the hangups about graveyards either, unless it comes from horror movies or something? I think they're so pretty and so peaceful and to me, it's much like walking around a park or something.

LoL it's cause it floods down there and most of it is swampland, and if they buried people underground the coffins would be in all sorts of trouble. I learned that in Houston.

Mother wants one of those open-air-get-eaten-by-vultures deals. I have absolutely no idea how I'm gonna pull that one off.

Hey, where are you right now? I live about an hour from Shreveport on the Texas side.

Right now I am in Lake Charles, LA. Yesterday I was in Orange TX. Are we even close??

Eh, you're about three and a half hours south of me, unfortunately. If you're ever forced at gunpoint to go to Shreveport, though (and that's generally the only way people come here), give me a shout.

I was actually typing the sentence "I will let you know the next time I'm down there because I'll have a rental car and $40 / day of company money" and then I remembered how much free time I DID NOT HAVE on this particular trip and wanted to die.

However, if they send me down again (unlikely, seeing how badly this trip fucked up) I will let you know anyway! WE COULD MEET. THE WORLD COULD EXPLODE.

My only experience with XM I just remember thinking:

1. Why is there nothing on that I actually want to listen to
2. Why would I pay for something that has sound quality equivalent to regular radio if not worse.

Perhaps it's gotten better, my dad had it in his truck and honestly the only thing I miss about it (and I fully expect to be called lame) was the PGA channel where you could listen to audio commentary of golf tournaments.

Well, #2 doesn't really apply to me because I don't understand people who are concerned about "sound quality" when they are listening to something in their car, but that's just me. As for #1, I don't know, I found a couple really fun channels to listen to. And also I am so amused by the fact that they list the song title and artist... that alone could amuse me for a 6-month subscription before I even started listening to the actual music, haha. I am lame.

Yay! FFV is definitely not strong on story, but I just love their job system. It's a precursor to FF10-2, but without all of the annoying girly shit of FF10-2. And in a very, remotely related way it's also a bit like FFTactics. Fun stuff, though like most FF games the ending will leave you going "WTF, mate?"

Also, NB on "XM Radio" - they've had that in Germany since forever, apparently. You should've seen me when I first came over here. I was like "OMG YOUR RADIO TELLS YOU WHAT SONG IT'S PLAYING WHAT WHAT WHAT!" It *is* awesome. :)

OK, I'm pathetic, but I have been playing this game all day today, and FFV ADVANCE IS THE FUCKING BOMB. Seriously, this is so much better than whatever I played 8 years ago on my emulator. Holy cow. I am totally in love and obsessed. (And also bored as shit in my hotel room, which might account for why I am so pleased with it, but whatever!) I have Job System ADD, mostly because I like the outfits. I am such a terrible gamer.
