I marked "other" for the skimming question because you mostly write for games I haven't played (FF4, FF6) or don't know very well (FF7, to a certain extent FF8), and I am less likely to read stories about characters I'm not familiar with. I tend not to care about genre so much -- if a writer I like writes a story in a canon I know, I will give it a shot, regardless of pairing/genre/whatever.

But even when I don't know the canon, it's still a lot of fun to see you take something and run with it in a stream of comment fics. And despite not being as familiar with FF8 canon as with some of the others, I will never turn down a pirate AU story. ;)

It gets worse: I actually have FFVI in my house (the PS port) and haven't played more than the first hour or so (we were dumb and started with FFV instead). For years I've been meaning to get back to it, but I kept putting it off and now I think I'm going to hold out for the DS version.

FFIV for the DS is definitely on my to-do list!

Well, random advice: if you're going to play FFV, definitely get the Advance version. I played it on emulator and on PS, and thought it was the dullest story ever. The Advance version is spectacular. It's quickly becoming one of my favorites to play.

I have heard that the Advance translations are much better for these early FF games. Unfortunately, I can't play GBA games -- pressing those little buttons is murder on my hands. So I'll have to wait and see if they ever release it for DS (the stylus works much better for me). They are planning on doing all the earlier games for DS, I hope?

I've been playing all of the Advance games on my DS - I don't have a GBA. They actually play fairly well; they just only use one screen. However, the *actual* FFIV-DS version is only a month away, so that one's probably worth waiting for. (*shuts mouth and decides not to ramble about playing the original! like a very old-school fangirl*)

I'm not sure whether they plan to release V and VI for the DS as well. Every time I hear something about it, it's the kind of news that could just be a rumor, or some internet nerd getting his chuckles from getting a rise out of us old-school fangirls or something. ;)
