So Open Office's Calc, while neat and free, doesn't solve anything past linear equations - not by Solver, or by graphical regression (really? I can't fit a polynomial??)

Guess I'm back to EXCEL tomorrow. Sorry, world, I tried to have a hate-on for MSOffice, but I'm an engineer: I like things that do what I need them to.

Hahaha you beat me to it. "Get a damn TI-89."

Or, like, Mathematica or Maple or some shit...

I sometimes don't even USE it! Just HAVING it is like having a binki or a security blanket!!

I totally know the feeling. I always keep it on my desk.

I have a TI-89, but seeing as I have to have something printed out to hand in, that's not a great solution. And why buy Mathmatica when I have EXCEL at work?

I love my TI89! It just DOESN'T PRINT THINGS I CAN HAND IN. blarg.

Wait. Doesn't that model have a USB where you can do stuff...? Probably not print out stuff because that would be too useful.

Backpedaling, I tried to use OO exclusively for awhile- word processing, if you stick to the very basic formatting, is fine. But Hyne help you if you want to do something "fancy" like WRAP TEXT AROUND A FUCKING IMAGE OR SOMETHING OR BULLET POINTS WITHOUT RIDICULOUS SPACE ISSUES. And ppts NEVER look right on computers with pptview or msoffice, and Excel sheets get wonky, and...

Yea, so I totally don't blame you for sticking with MSOffice. I went back to MSOffice 2003 myself (I hate the newest version, and that's a whole other kettle of fish and this comment is already too damn long).

Aha! This is not a coincidence is it?

Also you're a foobar user? How cool is that?!

Oh, it totally is. I think. Possibly.

Heck yea, foobars! Also Opera.

I guess polynomials are too good for Open Office?

Why try to have a hate on for MSOffice, though, if you don't mind me asking?

I know people tend to either love or hate Office - and that goes for both old & new versions. I'm just curious what your reasons are.

It can't be! You said you're stalking me after all ;)

No, you can print out graphs from the TI-89. Tables too. Other stuff, I'm not as sure about.
