No, actually, I was making the post when I saw yours. Hee.

Yes I'm sure many working class people have thought the same thing.
I've been quietly whining about it at work for the last week though.

I didn't even really think about it until my friend Meg who I email during the day was all, "WTF are you doing at work?"

The only thing I do on Mondays is coach a clarinet quartet in Cleveland Heights. Thankfully, my mom reminded me last night of the holiday today, or I would have probably tried to go.

Yay for not having to go to the scary school with all the loud black kids today! (how's that for being racially sensitive on MLK day?)

I wonder what MLK would think if he walked into a city high school like that, with all the noise and "yo yo, hippity-hoppity." I would hope he would be thinking "WTF?"

I think MLKj would actually just fall over dead if he caught black people calling each other "niggers". I mean, come ON.

Yeah, I second that. My mom mentioned something today about him rolling over in his grave upon seeing what's happened to the majority of the black population in America. It's kind of sad, actually. I feel the same way about women's lib. We worked so hard to make ourselves equal with men, and now lots of us walk around advertising our bodies, which kind of sets us back, I think.

Rant finished.

Y'know, I think the same thing when I'm shopping for work clothes and I see, like, the Victoria's Secret Work Clothing Line. And - if I wore that shit into my job? No one would respect me. At all. No one would listen to me. I'd just be eye-candy.

The worst is the little girls who dress like little hoes. They have no clue what message they're sending out. I used to teach dance classes when I was in high school, and even the five and six year olds would look at themselves in the mirror and start pulling down their leotard straps, trying to look sexy.

I look at the kids I used to babysit when I go home for the holidays. They make me cry. I swear, I want to have cute kids, but I will never, NEVER let them dress up as hoes.
