"It's like a car crash" Ship: Rydia/Edge, except that it's a car crash that ends well.
"Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: Rydia/Edward -- definitely intriguing, post-game, but not entirely there.
"Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not" Ship: Kain/Edge. Because it feels good!
"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship: Cecil/Kain. Although I loves me some unrequited love and some love triangles! (Alright, shit, there aren't really ANY pairings in this fandom that I wouldn't buy with the right setup. I am an FFIV whore.)
"When all is said and done" Ship: I guess Rydia/Edge wins, since it was my first real fandom pairing. You're always partial to that. ;)

"I dabble a little" Ship: Auron/Lulu. For X2, Paine/Nooj and Baralai/Gippal, and that is entirely the fault of you and Nay. I don't normally read X2 because I haven't finished the game and I feel odd about it, but any time I see those two pairings now I'm willing to give it a try. :) THANKS
"It's like a car crash" Ship: Lulu/Wakka. Although, haha, it's canon! There are good things and bad things about that ship, IMO, but it ends up here because I'm having a hard time thinking of another ship. XD
"Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: Rikku/Gippal. Love the idea, but I'd like to see one where they don't lose all of their IC personality, especially Rikku. Alternate: Baralai/Yuna. Tickles my fancy!

"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship: Tidus/Yuna. I actually like the sweetness of the ship but I don't like the way it's written often, which is why it falls into this category.
"When all is said and done" Ship: Auron/Rikku is often done bad, but in the hands of a good author, I enjoy it a lot.

I really hear you on Tidus/Yuna and especially Rikku/Gippal being butchered by fandom. I have this problem with Baralai/Gippal sometimes, too. Too many fangirls who didn't pay any attention to the characters and are just working off their sketchy knowledge and other people's fanon.

This is my biggest problem with writing in X-2 -- although I'm at least smart enough to not try unless it involves YRP? I only got to Chapter 4 in the game, and then I moved and completely lost my place and have not gone back to finish it. So while I know enough about the canon to read and enjoy, I don't feel comfortable enough to write it.
I've also -- apparently -- read some pretty terrible fanfic involving Baralai, Gippal, and Nooj, because I really just don't trust the personalities in my head any more.
