murderstomps into the lecture three days late with starbucks what's UP CHUCKLEFUCKS it's time for your favorite kissy event of the year: Final Fantasy Kiss Battle 2023 is a GOOOOO!

This event is open to everyone, even if we aren't DW circlefriends! (feel free to friend me too; i promise i'm not crazy that's a lie but at least i'm sometimes funny). If you aren't on DW, you can still play via anon or OpenID!

The Kiss Battle is simple. Players leave prompts in comments under each specific fandom, using generalized fandom nomenclature: a relationship of some sort, and a concept to inspire other players.

• For romantic relationship kisses, we use X / Y
• For platonic relationship kisses, we use X & Y
• Absolutely open to relationships with more than 2 people involved! X / Y / Z (/ A / B ...) welcome to this party!
• Prompts can be a word, a sentence, an image, a song lyric; it's a suggestion, rather than a request
• it's a kiss battle! there will be smooches!

Players then go looking for smoochin' prompts they'd like to fill. Fills can be fic, art, interpretive dance, whatever you're inspired to; they can be filled in a responding comment, or as a link (to AO3, tumblr, etc). FILLS GOTTA HAVE A KISS IN 'EM. IT'S A KISS BATTLE. What counts as a "kiss" is up to you, though -- you can be creative!

• Fills should use the comment header to let people know what the fill is; please use a format like "X / Y, (title), (rating), (any content warnings that might apply)"

It's a very simple game, and is meant to be played in good faith without anybody being a shitbag about pairings or characters. We're all too old for this.

I'm Sev, I'm old, and I'm here for the meme.

I've played nearly all the FF games. favorites remain IV and VI, with soft spots for VIII, X, XII, Tactics, and Type-0.

I like slightly feral women (Rydia, Terra), or controlled women that might go feral at the slightest breeze (Quistis, Ashe, Celes). I like my men sarcastic and snarky and a bit done with the world (Balthier, Sazh, Edge) or just a bit stupid (Laguna my beloved). I also have a soft spot for precocious young boy-kings (LARSA MY BOY).

I'm also active right now in Good Omens, The Witcher, OFMD, Marvel/MCU, and Detroit Become Human, my new and slightly shameful beloved. Talk to me about Connor.

I have played all the FFs except XI and a couple of spinoffs (the spinoffs are in the giant backlog, I just gotta get there.) Favorites include 6, Ivalice everything, 4, XIV, 9--listen I just like almost everything but some are more my favorite than others. I love knights, awesome ladies, and rogues.

I have recently fallen back into the Dragon Age dumpster and am writing a huge epic thing there which is, thank God, almost done. Also love SMT, Mass Effect, Persona, and various JRPG properties.

HIHI! I'm althea_valara, also known around various parts as Althea Valara! I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan, a Twitch streamer (so far just have streamed FF games), and a fiber artist (knitting and crochet, with a tiny bit of pin loom weaving). Fun fact about me: I once walked a marathon! Took me 8 hours and 45 minutes (it was in Dublin, Ireland, and there was a typhoon happening in England so the weather was atrocious which slowed me down) but I FINISHED IT! Also, I like parentheses!

Favorite Characters & Ships

ALISAIE. *points to icon* I love her to pieces. I'm also very fond of her twin brother Alphinaud. They are wonderful characters. Heck, all of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn are great, but those two especially.

Ships... I don't feel I really ship any characters strongly enough to point to them and say "...that's my ship" but some I enjoy are: Emmanellain/Sicard, FFXIV (wrote this for last year's kiss battle!), Emet-Selch/Hythlodaeus, with or without Azem (FFXIV), Alphinaud/Estinien (FFXIV), Rain/Lasswell (FFBE), Rain/Fina (FFBE), Rain/Fina/Lasswell (FFBE)... hmm, think that's it for now?

Other Fandoms

GUESS WHAT? I'm not in other fandoms! No seriously, Final Fantasy owns my soul and keeps me entertained enough that I don't spend time in other fandoms. And even in FF-land, I feel more fandom-adjacent than firmly rooted in fandom.

I'm Jes! I'm an accounting project coordinator by day, a science student slightly later in the day, and a weightlifter/TTRPG player by night. I've begun transforming into my final form of Goth Girl Who Got Old Somehow But Still Collects Skulls.

My great FF love is VIII, because it is so weird. I also really like XII due to its superb localisation and difficulty spikes. XV is a mess but it's my mess. I tried to player Stranger of Paradise and couldn't even get through the demo.

My current fandom loves are Persona 3, The Last Of Us, and The Great Ace Attorney. I really, really like Kazuma/Ryunosuke.

Hi everyone! I'm BettyCrockersSpoon, no relation to the lovely spoony bard. Living that wfh life, surviving weird work hours and trying my very best to stay awake in the evenings for the vidyas. Outside of my chronic online life, I enjoy baking and like to think my creations taste better than they look...

Hyperfixated on FFIV since I was a kid, but I've played FFVIIR, most of disc one from og FFVII, OG Crisis Core, Revenant Wings, and in the middle of FFVI.

For pairings, my OTP has been RydiaxEdge since day 1. Also playing Crisis Core before VII meant ZackXAerith and CloudxTifa are my main VII ships but I'll read and enjoy any pairing for that. Not enough info to make a decision on pairings for FFVI. For characters, outside of those mentioned in pairings, I love the grouchy old men of FFIV (Tellah and Cid) and I'm absolutely in love with Edgar right now for FFVI.

I've also written a one-shot for Spiritfarer, which has a berth of gorgeous stories on AO3 that I highly recommend.

All of my socials are under this username on AO3, FFN, here, and Tumblr, but I hardly use the last two...

WHEN I FIGURE OUT THIS SUBSCRIPTION THING ON DW, I PLAN ON ADDING ALL Y'ALL.

Hola! I'm Nico. Every day I come closer to being an old witch who terrorizes children in the woods.

I've played and beat pretty much every game in the series multiple times. I don't play the MMOs, though I'm curious (time constraints!) My favs are VI and IX (yeah, I'm one of those guys.)

I have so many favs and so many ships that it's a little uncanny. I love the morally amibigious/complicated characters, every set of twins, women who have to make Hard Choices, and everything inbetween. I've also had a weird thing for Cid Highwind since I was 12. What makes it extra weird is I am now the same age as him, and it's sorta screwing with my brain.

All the fandoms! Dead by Daylight and every associated horror thing, Sailor Moon, Tales of, Triangle Strategy, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, both Marvel and DC (preference for comics, but adaptations are sweet too)... the list goes on.

Feel free to friend me. I'm shy at friending other people first, but enjoy making new ones.

hello!! my main fandom is final fantasy so i am especially here for this meme.

about me: i am a writer and lover of cats. i am sadly allergic to cats. i still want to see your cat pictures.

ff games i've played: all main series games except X-2 and XI. i did actually try to play XI the year before last. i made it through the download process (SOMEHOW) and logged in only to take one look at the UI and hate it. (i don't have a good reason for not playing X-2 yet.)

favorite ffs: 7, 12, 13, 14, tactics. very fond of 8 as well.

favorite ff characters and ships: tifa, lightning, and ashe are my trilogy of Favorite Heroines. some other top favorites are cloud, ramza, balthier, laguna. i adore the cast of 14, especially g'raha and estinien. i'm actually not super shippy in ff fandom with the exception of wolgraha, but i have a fondness for cloud/tifa and balthier/ashe.

other fandoms: i'm not actually active in other fandoms right now, but occasionally i post about things like mass effect, pokémon, zero escape, valkyrie profile, etc.

social media: farfromdaylight (multifandom), farfromdaylight (FFXIV only, contains spoilers through latest patch), larissa (FFVII and FFXIV fic)

i also run my own websites, including a bunch for the ivalice games.

fun fact about my day: i spent nine hours crafting in final fantasy 14, after which i beat up goblin voltron. the two are unrelated.

Sarasa here, older and older every year. Back in the 00s, the Final Fantasy fandoms were responsible for pulling me into online fanfic-writing although I have been in fandom in one way or another since the 90s. Former (or mostly non-practicing) scientist & academic; currently living my life in the arts.

I am more familiar with FF6-15 than the earlier games. Also love various FF spin offs too. FF12 is a major fave of mine. FF7 and all of its spin-offs plus remake are my zero-regrets guilty pleasure and my original intro to the franchise. Recently I have been meaning to play all of the FF games that I haven't played plus replay ones that I have mostly forgotten so I can roll around in the nostalgic goodness.

I love crack pairings, odd pairings, and rare pairs, but I kind of ship everyone/everyone purely for the writerly challenge because it makes me think. I tend to avoid squee around popular antagonists but when a prompt or premise strikes me as interesting, I'll jump in and play too. For the past bunch of years I have been threatening to complete and begin posting my FFVII Vincent/&Lucrecia epic (in which things are very complex).

My current active (big) fandoms are The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. I love what the Netflix series has done with the women in the Witcher universe. For CP2077 I am a Judy/Fem!V and a Goro/V shipper. I still hang out with Dragon Age fandom, mostly to think about what DA2 did well versus what it could have been. Mostly interested in the Mage characters in DA. Big love for Persona 5 (and the whole series of games). In general, I am a dark academia fan from before dark academia became a Thing(tm) -- I love explorations of academia and academic-like settings gone very very wrong, which is one of the themes that comes up in my fanfic.

My DW is most (but not entirely) friendslocked where I ramble about creativity and other things.

Hello. I have an account here which I often forget.

If you want forbidden trivia for Final Fantasy III, I'm your man. I sold my soul to that game and am now hell-bent on ringing every bit of lore or trivia that I can from it. The first 3 games in general are my main wheelhouse, though I'm trying to get to/through the SNES entries as well as spinoffs like Tactics.

Ingus is my favorite character, but I generally gravitate towards the "fourth member" archtype (Leon, Faris, etc) though not always. Villainwise, I am really fascinated by Garland's portrayal in the early Dissidia games and the Emperor is fun. The armored dudes in general tend to be fun.

I'm not deep enough into other fandoms to really say that I'm part of them. Closest is probably Nintendo in general.

• FFXII is the FF of my heart (Balthier/Fran OTP, Basch/Vossler, all four in various permutations, Larsa/Penelo, Ashe/Al-Cid).
  
• FFXV is a hot mess I want to save most of the characters from (Ignis/Noctis, Noctis/Prompto, well, all the chocobros in various frequently queerplatonic permutations, Holly/Cindy and Aranea/Biggs/Wedge). Maybe one day I'll actually play the Insomnia chapter and admit how the game ends. Maybe.
  
• Vagrant Story is my FF-adjacent first love (Sydney/Hardin OTP).

You could say partnerships are like catnip to me.

I have also played: FFVII (orig), VIII, IX, X, XII:Revenant Wings (and watched playthroughs of XIII's trilogy and FFVII:R and other assorted FFVII side games for which I lack the console.) FFVII Remake made me curious about Aerith/Tifa and (Sephiroth/)Cloud/PTSD.

I post little on DW but try to comment more.

You can also find me at threewalls. Currently, I'm obsessed with Persona 5: The Royal, but I have written fic for so, so many other video games and other fandoms. FFXII is the largest chunk of my back-catalogue: over 120 works (of which about 50% are Balthier/&Fran), though most of it is over a decade old.

I'll still also talk about Vagrant Story to anyone who wants that, and that game's more than 20 years old. I am tentatively interested in FFXVI for the parallels to VS and FFXII.
